A pilot verification operation is currently underway.
The content of the unified system includes selected data on public green spaces and their administrators, which are needed for addressing coordination and city-wide conceptual and planning tasks in relation to blue-green infrastructure and solving tasks related to management and planning in public space. The system is focused on green areas in the city's built-up area, especially parks, lawns, flower beds or tree alleys. In the unified system of shared data on public greenery, data on forest areas and areas of landscape vegetation (forests, meadows, etc.) are not processed.
The main objective is to provide information on the responsibilities of individual administrators of greenery in public spaces and basic information on the type and other characteristics of individual vegetation elements and areas.
IPR Prague is the administrator of the central data warehouse of shared information on green spaces. The data are taken from the greenery passports of individual administrators and from dendrological surveys. The basis of the system is a unified data model including a common typology and classification (codebooks) of individual sites.
The content is filled gradually according to the readiness and technical capabilities of individual administrators. Currently, basic data are available from the Technical Administration of Roads (TSK), the Department of Environmental Protection of the Prague City Hall (MHMP OCP) and chosen Municipal districts.
Data validity and data updates
The data is provided to the system by the individual greenery managers, or by the managers of the passport information systems. At the moment of the pilot operation, the data are updated at intervals according to the possibilities of individual administrators. Automation of the system is underway so that data is updated with high frequency or when content changes. The green sites data also includes an indication of the last update in the metadata.
The process of integration of agenda systems is implemented from 2022, the involvement of individual green administrators in the system is determined by the technical capabilities of the administrator or data provider.
Data content
The unified system of shared data on green spaces in Prague contains three basic groups of elements.
The description of the elements and the information about them are part of the Common Standard of Citywide Significant Data on Urban Greenery, which was designed in cooperation with TSK, departments of the Prague City Hall and other major green space administrators.
1. Vegetation elements
Vegetation elements are the basic space-creating component of a work of garden or landscape design. They are determined by appearance, the spatial arrangement of the plants and the method of cultivation. These are mainly lawns, flowerbeds, trees, shrubs, etc.
2. Technical elements
Technical elements are a fundamental component of a work of garden or landscape design. This term encompasses structural elements in the areas of land, utilities, water management structures, as well as artistic elements and amenities. It includes small buildings, water features, staircases, retaining walls, etc.
3. Green space management
The green space management layer contains the basic areas of greenery, divided according to their administrator.
The largest administrators of green spaces in Prague are:
the Prague City Hall - Department of Environmental Protection (MHMP OCP), Department of Property Management (MHMP HOM)
Municipal districts 1-22
Technical Administration of Roads (TSK)
Method of data transmission
Citywide green management data is available for viewing in the mapping application. The content of the unified Greenery Information System is public, the data is available in the form of open data. It can also be accessed via the viewing services listed on the Geoportal of Prague.
The transfer of data to the Greenery Data Sharing System is done through a common exchange format (in .xml format). The data is transmitted to the IPR Prague system administrator. Currently, data is transferred according on the basis of agreement, and a single transfer interface is under preparation.
